June at Orchard Knob: Godly Men Building a Legacy of Faith:

A Month of Faith, Family, and the Next Generation

June is a special month at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church. As summer begins, we are reminded of the importance of investing in the next generation and building a legacy that honors God.

This month, we celebrate fathers, pour into our children and youth through Vacation Bible School and Youth Week, and reflect on the biblical examples of those who faithfully passed their faith from one generation to the next.

Scripture reminds us:
"One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts." — Psalm 145:4

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, mentor, teacher, or spiritual leader, God has called each of us to influence the next generation for His glory.

Great Fathers of the Bible

Abraham: The Father of Faith
Abraham is known as the father of many nations because of his unwavering faith and obedience to God. Even when he could not see the outcome, he trusted God's promises.
Lesson for Today: Faith is often demonstrated through obedience before we understand God's plan.

Noah: The Protector of His Family
Noah remained faithful in a world filled with corruption. Because of his obedience, his family was preserved through the flood.
Lesson for Today: Godly leadership often means standing firm when culture moves in a different direction.

Joseph: The Earthly Father of Jesus
Joseph quietly demonstrated faithfulness, integrity, and protection. Though not Jesus' biological father, he faithfully fulfilled the responsibility God entrusted to him.
Lesson for Today: Fatherhood is not just about biology—it is about presence, responsibility, and godly influence.

Job: A Father Who Prayed for His Children
Job consistently interceded for his children, seeking God's protection and blessing over their lives.
Lesson for Today: One of the greatest gifts a parent can give is consistent prayer.

The Father in the Prodigal Son
Jesus' parable presents a father who embodies grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love.
Lesson for Today: Godly fathers reflect the heart of our Heavenly Father through love, patience, and forgiveness.

As we celebrate Father's Day this month, we honor all fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and father figures who are helping shape lives through faith, wisdom, and love.

VBS 2026: Hooked

June 8–10 | 6:00 PM Nightly
This year's Vacation Bible School theme is "Hooked", inspired by Jesus' invitation in Matthew 4:19:

"Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Children will enjoy exciting Bible lessons, worship, games, crafts, and fellowship while learning what it means to follow Jesus and share His love with others.
VBS is more than a few nights of fun—it is an opportunity to plant seeds of faith that can impact a child for a lifetime.

We encourage parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends to bring the children in their lives and help us make this an unforgettable week of spiritual growth.

Youth Week 2026
Immediately following VBS, we continue our focus on the next generation through Youth Week.
June 11 | Night on Wheels 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
A fun evening of fellowship, activity, and connection designed for our youth and families.

June 12 | Chattanooga Lookouts Game 7:00 PM
A night of fellowship and community as our youth enjoy America's favorite pastime together.

June 13 | Youth Awards Brunch 9:00 AM
A special time to celebrate accomplishments, recognize achievements, and encourage our young people as they continue to grow academically, spiritually, and personally.

June 14 | Youth Worship Service 9:00 AM
The culmination of Youth Week as our young people lead and participate in worship, demonstrating the gifts and talents God has placed within them.

Investing in the Next Generation

The future of the Church is not tomorrow—it is already here.

Throughout Scripture, God worked through families, mentors, and faith communities to develop future leaders. Moses had Joshua. Elijah had Elisha. Paul had Timothy. Each generation intentionally invested in the next.

As a church family, we share that responsibility.
This June, let us commit to:
  • Encouraging our children and youth
  • Praying for the next generation
  • Supporting parents and families
  • Modeling Christian character
  • Creating opportunities for young people to serve and lead

Together, we can build a legacy of faith that extends far beyond ourselves.

We look forward to seeing you throughout VBS, Youth Week, and our Father's Day celebrations as we continue growing in faith and impacting future generations for Christ.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." — Proverbs 22:6
